The Star Wars galaxy prepares for new adventures with the upcoming production of the second season of Ahsoka, the fan-favorite series that follows the exploits of the former Jedi Padawan. According to insider Daniel Richtman, filming of the second season directed by Rosario Dawson will begin in the fourth quarter of this year. This suggests that fans could see the new adventures of Ahsoka Tano as early as 2025 on Disney+.
The news comes after the success of Ahsoka's first season, which was released on Disney+ between August and October 2023. Despite positive reception from fans and critics, Lucasfilm only announced the second season order in January 2024. Ahsoka continues the adventures of the beloved Star Wars character following her appearances in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. The series sees Ahsoka investigate an emerging threat to the galaxy following the fall of the Empire. In addition to the main character, the series also features several characters from Star Wars Rebels, which serves as the fifth season of the series.
The first season of Ahsoka brought back several cast members from the Star Wars prequel trilogy, including Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. Christensen expressed excitement about participating in the project, calling it “a bucket list item I didn't even know I had.” Ahsoka Season 2 is one of several Star Wars projects in development, set in the post-Return of the Jedi era, known as the New Republic era. Season 1 of Ahsoka is currently streaming on Disney+.
