James Marsden, who played the mutant Cyclops in the X-Men trilogy, was spotted near the set of Deadpool & Wolverine. Should we expect a cameo from him? Here's what the actor replied!
James Marsden/Deadpool & Wolverine |
Deadpool & Wolverine is one of the next films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe most awaited by fans: not only will we see the foul-mouthed antihero played by Ryan Reynolds on the big screen, but the film will also mark the return of Wolverine and Hugh Jackman. Deadpool's entry into the MCU will kick off the presence of mutants in the Marvel universe and could give us several surprises. The film directed by Shawn Levy will be full of cameos from characters well-known to MCU fans: as also confirmed by Karan Soni, in the third chapter of the Deadpool trilogy, the mercenary will be hired by TVA to face a new threat and this new adventure will take him to meet Wolverine.
Among the various cameos announced there will be those of Morena Baccarin in the role of Vanessa, the protagonist's love interest, that of Negasonic Mutant Warhead by Brianna Hildebrand, and we will likely see Jennifer Garner's Elektra. Some fans were hoping to see Cyclops again too, and the sighting of James Marsden on the set of the film sparked the theories: the actor played the role of Scott Summers/Cyclops in the original 2000s X-Men trilogy and then appeared briefly in X-Men: Days of Future Past. His return to the MCU hasn't been officially announced, but since the actor was spotted nearby on the set of Deadpool 3, fans have started to wonder if there's a chance we might see him make a cameo appearance.
The person concerned responded to the various theories: Marsden was interviewed by The Playlist to promote his latest film and during the chat, he gave an explanation as to why he had been spotted near the set of Deadpool & Wolverine. The actor declared that the filming of Sonic 3 - just concluded - was held near the set of Shawn Levy's new film:
"I keep hearing about it. I can't walk down the street without someone asking me, so obviously there's a lot of chatter about it. It would be fun. We actually just finished filming Sonic 3. We were close to the Deadpool set over there. Pinewood, actually. [...] Yes, this is a bit of a Pandora's box..."
Marsden's reluctant words didn't, of course, clear up the mystery, but the actor could easily have made his way to the set of Deadpool 3 for a cameo. We just have to wait until July 24, 2024 to find out!
