The release window for season 2 of House of the Dragon, HBO's acclaimed fantasy series, has been confirmed. It has been confirmed that the second season of House of the Dragon will premiere in June 2024. Previously, it was reported that the second season of the fantasy series would be released by summer 2024, again on HBO and Max. According to what Variety now reports, the second season will be presented to the public in June.
That's the most information provided so far about the long-awaited return of the Game of Thrones prequel show. For now, we have to settle for the month of release because no more specific day has been provided. The June 2024 launch window was confirmed by Warner Bros. Discovery's JB Perrette during an interview at Morgan Stanley's Technology, Media, and Telecommunications Conference. The first season of House of the Dragon debuted in August 2022 and concluded in October with its 10 episodes.
The wait for season two could have been even longer if the show had fallen victim to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Filming for the second season began in April 2023, but was not affected by the WGA strike, as scripts had already been completed when the Hollywood writers' strike began. Additionally, the SAG-AFTRA strikes didn't impact filming either, as the show is a contract production for Equity UK.
