Aaron Taylor Johnson

Aaron Taylor-Johnson could be the actor who will shake up the historic Agent 007 franchise. The British star has been offered the role of James Bond and is expected to formally accept it shortly. The producers of the franchise are awaiting confirmation from him, according to sources. Ever since Daniel Craig announced that he would retire from the franchise after No Time to Die (released in 2021), speculation about his replacement has spread like wildfire, even though the producers had assured that they were in no rush and that they would ponder the decision very calmly. Among the possible candidates, the most mentioned names were those of Tom Hardy, Henry Cavill, Bridgerton actor RegĂ©-Jean Page, and Idris Elba, who said that the "disgusting racial discourse" around his possible casting discouraged him from the idea of playing Bond. Then Aaron Taylor-Johnson's name came up.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson is set to replace Daniel Craig

According to The Sun, Eon Productions hopes to start filming the 26th Bond film later this year, and 33-year-old star Taylor-Johnson, whose credits include Kick-Ass, Tenet, and Bullet Train, is their number one pick for the role. A source said: “Bond is Aaron's if he wants to take it. The formal offer is already on the table and they are waiting for a response. As for Eon, Aaron will sign his contract in the next few days and they can start preparing for the big announcement.”

In 2023 the actor would have met the historical producer of the franchise Barbara Broccoli for a meeting which, according to sources, went "very well". In 2022 it was already assumed that he had already signed after a top secret audition. In short, the name of the young actor has been bouncing around in magazines, coupled with that of James Bond, for two years already! His alleged casting would also confirm claims made by Bond co-producer Michael G Wilson, who said the team wanted the new Bond to be a 30-year-old. Taylor-Johnson himself has never denied being involved with the future of the saga.
