Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow |
After Chris Pratt, another renowned star of the Marvel Cinematic Universe could lead the franchise with dinosaurs! We are talking about Scarlett Johansson, the former Black Widow from the Marvel Studios films. The upcoming fourth Jurassic World film, which will be directed by Rogue One and Godzilla director Gareth Edwards, is looking for a brand new cast and Scarlett Johansson appears to be Universal's number-one choice!
The Insider reported that Universal Pictures has made an offer to Johansson to star in Jurassic World 4. According to the report, the star has met with director Edwards and producer Frank Marshall at least once. It is not yet known whether Scarlett Johansson has accepted the offer or not, but her schedule seems to be free for the start of filming of the film (which is scheduled for this summer). On the other hand, there is bad news for all Jurassic Park fans: Sam Neill has stated that he rules out his return to the franchise. Plot details for this new Jurassic World are still being kept under wraps, but we know that the script was written by original Jurassic Park screenwriter David Koepp.
The franchise's original producer, Frank Marshall, also returned to produce the new film, while Steven Spielberg will serve as executive producer for Amblin Entertainment. The (currently untitled) project, scheduled for release on July 2, 2025, will mark the beginning of a new storyline in the decades-old dinosaur series. The six-film series, which began with Spielberg's original 1993 Jurassic Park, has grossed more than $6 billion worldwide. The most recent film, 2022's Jurassic World: Dominion, surpassed $1 billion at the worldwide box office.
