Scream 7 will see the return of some familiar faces to the horror saga, with Neve Campbell reprising her role as Sidney Prescott and original creator Kevin Williamson directing the film. Scream 6, released in 2023, brought a spark of electricity and excitement back to the saga, even if it was missing one of its original stars, the iconic Neve Campbell.

Scream 7, however, began to lose some of its appeal following the firing of Melissa Barrera, the exit of Jenna Ortega, and the resignation of director Christopher Landon. However, it appears these issues have been resolved with the expected and iconic returns of Campbell and Williamson. Will going back to the past help the future outcome? Details on the new chapter of the saga are still very scarce: the only official data is a post on Neve's Instagram account, which confirms her long-awaited return!

Guy Busick (Scream, 2022 and Scream VI) will take care of the screenplay while James Vanderbilt is attached to direct Nuremberg. Vanderbilt will continue to produce alongside his Project X Entertainment partners William Sherak and Paul Neinstein (Scream, 2022 and Scream VI). But what led beloved director Christopher Landon to abandon the franchise? Following Melissa Barrera's firing, director Christopher Landon stepped down from directing Scream 7, releasing a statement afterward.

“I guess now is a good time to announce that I formally left Scream 7 weeks ago. This will disappoint some and cheer up others. It was a dream job that turned into a nightmare. And my heart broke for everyone involved. Everyone. But it's time to move on,” Landon wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “I have nothing else to add to the conversation other than that I hope Wes' legacy thrives and rises above the noise of a divided world. What he and Kevin created is something incredible and I was honored to have even just a brief moment to embrace their light.”

When the news of Melissa Barrera's firing was announced, Landon wrote: “This is my statement: Everything sucks. Stop yelling. It wasn't my decision." The post has since been deleted from the director's social media profile.
