Daisy Ridley updates fans on the next Star Wars film, in which she will return to the role of Rey Skywalker, confirming that the script is in the pipeline, and adding that she has not yet had the opportunity to read it. The English actress also confirms that, as far as she knows, the film will be called Star Wars: New Jedi Order, removing all rumors about alternative titles from the table (first and foremost, the much-hyped “Episode
Here are her words exclusively to Collider: “I know they're finishing the script, I haven't read it yet, but I can't wait. If nothing has changed since the official announcement, the title should have remained the same." As for a possible release date, Ridley is hesitant: “I don't know. The strike certainly slowed everything down, but the intention would have been to have it released at the end of 2024, or at the beginning of 2025 at the latest."
The film directed by Sharmeen Obayd – Chinoy, will see Rey busy reconstituting the Jedi order from scratch. “In 2024 it was also time for a woman to come and tell a story in a galaxy far, far away,” declared the director when presenting the project to CNN, through provocative words that shocked the fandom. Set fifteen years after the events of Episode IX, it will chronicle Rey's efforts to revive an organization "in shambles, based on tradition and the promises made to Luke."
On the possibility of a cameo by Mark Hamill in the film, Kathleen Kennedy, producer of the saga, does not say too much: "There won't be many flashbacks or appearances, but Luke's spirit will certainly have a role."
