Great news for Stranger Things fans. Even though the Writer's Guild of America strike significantly delayed the start of filming, official confirmation has arrived in recent days. The fifth and final season has therefore officially entered production, while a photo published by creator Ross Duffer with Sadie Sink on his Instagram account may have accidentally revealed a fundamental piece of information about the plot. And beware of spoilers!
In the photo, in fact, we see Sadie Sink, who plays Max in Stranger Things, one of the most loved characters, so much so that she brought the song Runnin' up that hill by Kate Bush back to the charts almost 40 years after its publication, lying on the bed, while Lucas, aka Caleb McLaughlin. The photo would thus be confirmation that in the fifth season of the series, Max is alive and has come out of the coma, since in the photo of her we see her awake and smiling. But upon closer inspection, there is another detail that perhaps Ross Duffer didn't even intend to reveal.
One of the problems of the fifth season is in fact that the WGA strike significantly delayed production, while the protagonist actors naturally continued to grow, showing themselves very different from the last episodes of Stranger Things 4 – Part II. But in the photo with Sadie Sink, Caleb is wearing a digital watch, and the enlarged image shows the date Thursday, November 2.
Scanning the calendar of the 80s, it can be seen that the only year in which November 2nd falls on a Thursday is 1989. The last episodes of the Netflix series, however, took place in 1986. The Duffer Brothers will have decided to bring the facts of Stranger Things three years ahead? Perhaps precisely to justify the growth of its interpreters?
For now, it's just speculation, but actually a leap forward would serve to avoid the many criticisms regarding the appearance and age of the actors. Just think of the recent photos of Millie Bob Brown, who celebrated her twentieth birthday alongside her boyfriend Jake Bongiovi, son of Rock Star Jon Bon Jovi, complete with a ring and promise of marriage. So will the final season really be set in 1989? However, no confirmation has been received from the Duffer Brothers or from the other authors of Stranger Things.
