James Gunn, the writer-director of Superman and co-head of DC Studios, recently provided an explanation as to why the costume for the new Man of Steel film has not yet been revealed to the public. In response to a fan on Threads asking about the Superman costume, Gunn simply stated, "Because the movie doesn't come out for a year." This comment came after Gunn previously shared an official photo from the project showing the "S" emblem nearly a year ago. DC Studios co-head Peter Safran's wife Natalia also hinted that a full preview of the costume would be coming "pretty soon," describing the dress as "oh, it's so beautiful!!"
Rachel Brosnahan, the actress who plays Lois Lane, also revealed her excitement about the Superman costume, saying: “So, I'm not going to be the one to break the news! We did our first script reading… I saw the costume. It looks fantastic. And I can't wait for everyone to see it. "As for the film's title, Gunn explained the decision to drop the Legacy subtitle, saying that Superman seemed like the right name and that everyone was on board with it. He also pointed out that there has never been a movie titled that since the 1979 film was promoted solely as “Superman: The Movie.”
On the plot front, Gunn kept information about Superman under wraps but confirmed that the film will not focus on Clark Kent's origins. Peter Safran added that it is not a superhero origin story, but rather how Superman balances his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. Anthony Carrigan, the Metamorpho actor, shared his enthusiasm for the project, calling it "something really special." He also spoke about his character, highlighting how he identified with the character's sense of diversity and strangeness due to his alopecia.
