Ifan and cinephiles everywhere eagerly await any news on The Batman 2, however, a new rumor suggests they may have to wait a little longer for any updates on the sequel starring Robert Pattinson. The Batman was exactly what DC fans needed after a string of back-to-back disappointments. With the film tripling its budget at the box office, it's no surprise that a sequel was announced not long after, scheduled for release in 2025.

However, last year's Hollywood strikes significantly delayed progress on the film's script, leading to The Batman sequel being delayed until 2026. According to insider Jeff Sneider, filming on the film won't begin for another full year, until April 2025. Also, casting isn't expected to happen until this fall. While The Batman 2 may not hit theaters for another two years, that doesn't mean projects within his universe won't come to fruition. The Penguin, a spin-off set after the events of The Batman, will be released this fall and will serve as a semi-sequel to the film.

A detective story for Max is also coming soon. The series, as described by Matt Reeves in 2022, will serve as a prequel to the film. Although the show has been put on hold indefinitely due to creative disputes between Reeves and HBO, it is said to still be in development. Matt Reeves is also working on DC projects outside of the Batman universe. One of the most anticipated upcoming projects for Max is a series based on Arkham Asylum. Although the show was originally set in The Batman continuity, James Gunn revealed that the project is now part of the main DC universe and is still in development.
