The relationship between Captain America and The Winter Soldier is one of the most iconic and beloved in the MCU. When The Falcon and The Winter Soldier debuted, the brilliant chemistry between Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan captured the hearts of all Marvel fans, making the lack of a second season a disappointment for many. Mackie himself recently shared his displeasure with this decision and the reason is easy to understand.
The Falcon And The Winter Soldier: the two actors will not return as superheroes
Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan are not only amazing colleagues but also great friends. Their on-screen dynamic and their mutual friendliness off-camera made working together a real pleasure, the actor said. Speaking to Radio Times, Mackie revealed that he was disappointed about the absence of a second season, especially because it means he won't be able to work with his co-star again:
I really enjoyed doing that series. I was actually excited to do a second season just so Sebastian and I could get paid to hang out. It's just like me, he and Daniel Brühl are some kind of perfect storm of happiness. So when they decided not to make it I felt very sad. Anything I can do to welcome Daniel, a dancing Daniel Brühl still makes me very happy.
The actor has expressed his desire to continue working with Stan in an upcoming series of The Falcon and Winter Soldier. The involvement of Daniel Brühl, in the role of Helmut Zemo, also contributed to making the on-screen trio incredibly fun and close-knit. Despite the disappointment of the absence of a second season, Mackie and Stan are preparing to lead the next MCU projects. Mackie will be busy in the fourth Captain America film, while Stan will join the cast of the Thunderbolts.
