Two adrenaline-pumping adventures are about to return. Both Violent Night with David Harbor and Nobody with Bob Odebkirk will delve deeper into the universe they are part of, but what stage are the sequels at? The latest update comes from producer Kelly McCormick. Speaking to Collider, you praised the work of both creative teams behind these two film projects and gave an update on both sequel projects, which are reportedly well underway.
Although Kelly McCormick is currently busy promoting The Fall Guy with Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, she admitted that the sequels to Violent Night and Nobody are now well underway and, indeed, by the end of the year could receive a further push forward. Speaking to Collider, you anticipated that the respective protagonists David Harbor and Bob Odenkirk are both excited at the idea of starting again.
We are planning the return of those universes. We hope, in all sincerity, to potentially launch Nobody 2 by the end of the year and Violent Night 2 at the beginning of next year if we manage to find space in everyone's busy agenda. But the development is going very well and everyone is really, really excited to move forward.
Nobody was released in 2021, while Violent Night in 2022. Both are action films that do not give up violent clashes between the two protagonists. In Violent Night, David Harbor plays a Santa Claus who, to save himself from a rather bizarre condition, resorts to violence. The sequel was confirmed as early as the beginning of 2023 but, due to the writers' and actors' strike, the project slowed down. David Harbor also faced critical issues at the time.
Speaking to Collider, he said that after the end of the strike the project had restarted its engines and that he wanted to return to the set as soon as possible to make the sequel. The same goes for Nobody, which also had to deal with the consequences of the pandemic, which is why the film was highly appreciated on streaming platforms. Regarding the sequel, screenwriter Derek Kolstad said he had thought about a new chapter even before shooting the first film.
