After Steve Rogers passed the Captain America shield to Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson in Avengers: Endgame, the character became the MCU's new Sentinel of Liberty. Now Mackie will lead the cast of Captain America: Brave New World as the iconic hero of the United States, and new official photos from the film show off his new costume. Entertainment Weekly has released two new official images of Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson and Harrison Ford's Thunderbolt Ross. The first image shows Sam with Captain America's shield, but without costume, walking down a dark hallway.

The second image focuses on a meeting with Thunderbolt Ross, the new President of the United States of America. The first preview video also appeared at CinemaCon, featuring “lots of close-quarters combat and various action shots.” The film also teases a bit of plot, with a twist. In the first movie of Captain America: Brave New World, the new president of the United States is saved by a group of assassins. Afterward, Harrison Ford's character tells Sam Wilson that he wants his help in re-establishing the Avengers. At one point, Ross harshly attacks Wilson: “You're not Steve Rogers,” to which he responds: “You're right, I'm not.”

Captain America: Brave New World will feature Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson, after inheriting the Marvel hero's shield from Chris Evans' Captain America in Avengers: Endgame. His version of the hero made his debut in the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Joining him will be Danny Ramirez, reprising his role as Joaquin Torres AKA the new Falcon, as well as Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley, Harrison Ford as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, and Shira Haas as Sabra. Tim Blake Nelson will reprise his role as Samuel Sterns AKA The Leader from The Incredible Hulk alongside Liv Tyler as Betsy Ross.

Captain America: Brave New World is one of the upcoming MCU films that has been delayed to 2025.
