The long-awaited Game of Thrones prequel series, titled A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight, has finally revealed its protagonists. HBO has announced that Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell will play the lead roles in the new series based on George R.R. Martin's Tales of Dunk and Egg.
Plot, cast, and everything we know about the Game of Thrones sequel series
The HBO series, ordered in 2023 after a development period that began in 2021, will follow the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire Egg in Westeros a century before the events narrated in the parent series, Game of Thrones. Peter Claffey will play Dunk, while Dexter Sol Ansell will play Egg. This is the official synopsis:
“A century before the events of 'Game of Thrones,' two unlikely heroes roamed Westeros... a young, naive but brave knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in a time when the Targaryen lineage still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful enemies, and dangerous deeds await these unlikely and incomparable friends.” Game of Thrones author George RR Martin and Ira Parker will serve as writers and executive producers on the show, alongside a team of talented producers including Ryan Condal, Vince Gerardis, Owen Harris, and Sarah Bradshaw.
