In the final scene of Parasyte – The Grey, the new Korean Netflix series that tells of an invasion of parasites on Earth, Shinichi Izumi appears, who is the protagonist of the Japanese manga by Hitoshi Iwaaki which the show is inspired by, Parasyte – The unwanted guest.
The Korean series does not directly transpose the manga but sets a similar story in the same universe: like Su-In, the protagonist of The Grey, Shinichi also lives with a parasite (Migi, or Destry in the version our of the manga), which has not taken control of consciousness. Migi was forced to settle in Shinichi's arm because when he tried to enter his head, to feed on his brain, he found his way blocked by the earphones worn by the boy. Unlike Heidi with Su-In, Migi can constantly communicate with Shinichi, and throughout the manga, the two build a very strong and particular bond: together they attack and defeat the other parasites, interested only in exterminating the human race and feeding on them.

In the final scene of the series, as we explored in our explanation of the ending, Shinichi shows up at Team Grey's headquarters, where he meets Choi Joon-Kyung (Lee Jung-Hyun). The boy presents himself as a journalist who is very knowledgeable about parasites and extends his hand to shake it with the detective (the shot focuses a lot on his arm, where we know his parasite Migi lives).
This sequence could indicate that a second season of the series will be made, in which Shinichi will be among the protagonists, and in which he could collaborate with Team Grey in Korea. As we know from the series, Korea is where the most in-depth and timely studies on parasites were done, for this reason, Shinichi may have been interested in Team Grey and came to Korea from Japan.
