If the box office goes well, director David Leitch would like to make The Fall Guy the first chapter of a Lethal Weapon-style trilogy. The Fall Guy, an action comedy directed by David Leitch and the film adaptation of the television series Profession Danger, will be released in cinemas on May 1st. Starring Barbie star Ryan Gosling and Oppenheimer star Emily Blunt, the film, while not conceived as the first installment of a trilogy, could become one.

In a recent interview, the director of The Fall Guy hinted that if the film were to record excellent box office receipts, a trilogy could be created similar to Lethal Weapon, the famous detective saga starring Mel Gibson and Danny Glover which should return to the screen soon big screen after more than 25 years with a fifth chapter. “I know I'm on a journey with these characters for several films. I want Lethal Weapon numbers. I love these people and these characters so much… If I could work with this cast and these actors in this world that Kelly [McCormick, producer and Leitch's wife] and I know so well. Yes, that would be great. I hope people want more,” David Leitch told Total Film.
The Fall Guy tells the story of Colt Seavers (Ryan Gosling), an expert stuntman who, after having faced an accident that almost took his life, will have to recover a missing movie star, unmask a conspiracy, and win back a person's heart. The cast also includes Hannah Waddingham, Lee Majors, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Teresa Palmer, and Winston Duke.
