Srikakulam Sherlock Holmes Movie Review: Chantabhai Taluka is the tagline. The fact that distributor Vamsi Nandipati, who is in good form, is getting ready to bring this movie, which was previously unknown to anyone, to the audience, and the aggressive promotions he did afterward have created a good buzz.
The trailer of this movie also received a positive response, so expectations were raised for this movie, which is coming as a Christmas gift. Let's see what Srikakulam Sherlock Holmes, which has come to the audience, is like, and to what extent it has impressed the audience in the review.
Srikakulam Sherlock Holmes Movie Story:
The story of this movie is very simple. As shown in the trailer, a girl named Mary is murdered. The police hire a detective, Om (Vennela Kishore), to find out who murdered that girl. You should watch the movie to know how Om alias Sherlock Holmes solved that murder case, which had no clue.
Srikakulam Sherlock Holmes Movie Analysis:
No matter how big a detective film is, it is not possible to tell the story beyond the routine template mentioned above. But the success of this genre film depends on how the same story, which is known to everyone, is told with what kind of captivating twists and turns, and if possible, with what kind of touching scenes. However, by giving this film the title ‘Srikakulam Sherlock Holmes’, attaching the tagline‘ Chantabbhai Taluka’, and casting Vennela Kishore as the main lead, one can understand what the audience’s expectations will be.
Vennela Kishore's funny actions on screen are thought to reveal the real story in unexpected ways. But the writer-cum-director of this film thought differently. Even though Vennela Kishore, who is a care-of-address for comedy, was included in the film, he did not write a single comedy dialogue. Then why does Vennela Kishore not understand this film for some reason (I think Vennela Kishore also did not understand that…that is why he did not come for promotions).
Now, when the name Srikakulam is attached to the film, it does not feel native unless that accent and language are used. But Vennela Kishore is the only one who speaks in the Srikakulam accent. But it seems very artificial. The rest of them try to use that language here and there when they remember something, but the rest of the time they speak normally.
It doesn't make sense that it's the same film. Another sub-story that comes in the process of solving a murder case makes us confused about which film we're in. Some of the dialogues there are too crude and resemble the level of dialogues used in pornographic films. Such dialogues are also disturbing in many places in the film.
Sherlock Holmes, who was wandering like a bullock cart on a roadless road until the first half, feels like the journey has changed to a potholed road in the second half. However, the climax revelation, which feels like a huge twist by the film team at the end, is a bit better, but it doesn't feel amazing. However, since the point made there is also reminiscent of the old films I've seen, it seems right to give this film the title of an old film, Chantabhai Taluka.
Actors Performance:
There is no need to judge Vennela Kishore based on her performance in this film. The top comedian, who has made films stand out even with a quarter-hour role, struggled to find scope to impress in this film. But there is nothing wrong with him. Ananya Nagalla, who scores good marks in acting as well as beauty, has got a slightly different role in this film.
She got the opportunity to introduce another side of her to the audience. It can be said that this film has benefited her more than anyone else. This is a good opportunity for her at a time when she is still feeling routine with one type of role. The roles of the rest of the actors, including Ravi Teja, who played the hero in this film, also remained without any special features.
It is not known what made Siya Gautam (Aditi Gautam), who is acting in Telugu after a long gap, accept the role. It seems that she has acted beyond what is required even in the one or two scenes she has. Actors like Kalakeya Prabhakar and Anish Kuruvilla have acted within the scope of their roles.
Technical experts:
As mentioned earlier, the reason for this movie getting so much buzz is the famous distributor Vamsi Nandipati. Since the three movies he has distributed in the recent past have been blockbusters, expectations were also created for this movie. But after watching the movie, it seems that his judgment regarding this movie was also wrong.
The main flaw in this movie lies in the writing itself. It seems that writer Mohan, the director-cum-writer of Srikakulam Sherlock Holmes, has made this film with a half-baked storyline. It is surprising how he directed a script that is struggling with twists and turns, not in a comedy film as the title suggests.
The producer of this film.. cannot be blamed for not having any knowledge of film production. The film has been spent appropriately. The camera work is okay. The background music is okay. The Srikakulam song sung by Mangli is good.
Finally:
A boring home that is not impressive in any way.
