Vikatakavi Web Series Review: When we see the title, we think it is a comedy based on the story of Tenali Ramakrishna, but we get clarity that it is a thriller only after the first episode is over. This web series, which comes as a thriller with a touch of mythology... is no different from the series that come to us regularly on OTTs. It also connects well with our Telugu audience. Leaving aside the fact that it is slow, the series engages well with good thrills and twists. So let's see what the story of this series is, and what are the highlights and minuses.

Vikatakavi Web Series Story:

This story takes place in the 1950s in the Nallamala forests and surrounding villages. There is a hill of gods in an area called Amaragiri. When a fair is being held on the hill of gods, up to a hundred people die in the rain. The people there, thinking that all this happened due to the curse of the gods, have since moved in that direction.

If anyone dares to go, they will forget their past and become unresponsive. However, a professor, doubting whether the curse of the gods is really working or whether some other forces are working there, sends a detective from Hyderabad, Ramakrishna (Naresh Agastya), there. If the problem is solved there, he will get money. Ramakrishna goes there thinking that he can get his mother operated on with the money.

Ramakrishna faces some problems there. At first, the king of Amaragiri (Shizu Menon) wants to go there without any problem, but Ramakrishna stays there at the request of his granddaughter Lakshmi (Megha Akash). The detection begins. What is revealed in that process? What actually happens in the forest? What is the real story behind the gods' den? Is there any other reason why everyone who went there went mad? Did Detective Ramakrishna finally solve this problem? What is the role of the king's son-in-law, MLA Raghupathi (Raghu Kunche)? You have to watch the series to know such things.

Vikatakavi Web Series Analysis:

When you think of Vikatakavi, Tenali Ramakrishna comes to mind. There is no doubt that the name given to a thriller web series has created interest in this series. In addition, detective stories are always interesting. If they are told in a thrilling narration, then that kick is different. Also, this series has been maintaining suspense from the first episode to the last. Why are those events happening? Who is behind these.. How did the detective solve these? They raised the point till the end and maintained curiosity. And they made each character interesting and wrote the screenplay.

The high part of these web series is...bringing good drama mixed with suspense. They kept increasing the tension in the story until the resolution was given. Also, they ran the end of each episode with twists. Suspense and tension were used as the foundation for this narration. In that regard, the director has succeeded to a large extent. The storyline, which combines suspense, drama, and history, was interesting. Some of the twists were good. However, the writing should have been crisper. The combination of realism and folklore feels new. Doing so makes the supernatural elements believable.

But although the series was good for three episodes, in the beginning, the pace became very flat. The subplots still needed to be worked out. The stock characters and regular storytelling were a bit of a problem. The love story seemed unnecessary. However, even though the villain was already known, the story kept you engaged until the end. If they had focused more on the writing, it would have gone to the next level. The way the characters in the story were used according to the twists was good.

Technically:

For thriller series like this, camera work and background score are important for movies. Both of them were seriously achieved for this series. Special attention was paid to period scenes and night effect scenes. The scenes in the forests were well-designed. The producers spent a lot of money according to the story. The editing should have been sharper. The dialogue of the Telangana song is good. However, some of the artists could not dub the song properly.

Both Nagesh Agastya and Raghu Kunche did well in their performances. Raghu Kunche's performance as the villain was very intense. He showed his experience. Megha Akash is a good supporting character. There is nothing more to say.
